Two Months Old

Little Miss Eva Grace turned 2 months old today. To celebrate, we gave her a bath and she drank her bottle in record time. She is now 5 lbs 14 ozs and over 18 inches long. She is quickly moving toward that 6 lb mark. Eva's feedings have been going well the last few days and hopefully she will soon be on what the nurses call an "ad lib schedule" (meaning she will get to eat when she wants to instead of the schedule she is on now). That means one step closer to coming home!

It is truly amazing to see how far you've come over the last two months, Eva. Your tiny little cry has become a big voice. You've now started to outgrow the clothes that were once so big on you. You woo the doctors and nurses with your sweet disposition. Each day we go in to visit, there is something different about you. We can't wait to have you home, Eva Grace. We love you so much.

Here's our sweet girl just after her bath, finishing her bottle just before she dozes off.

Eight Weeks

Eva is now up to 5lbs 8oz. She has outgrown some of her preemie clothes! Eva is still working on taking all of her feedings from a bottle and has just the tiniest bit of oxygen to make sure she maintains good saturation. Miss Eva is really starting to show her personality and has realized that she has a voice--sometimes she sure lets us know she's found it!

Today marks 8 weeks that Eva Grace came into our lives. It's gone by so quickly and so slowly. Each day we get a little more anxious to get our sweet little girl home. That day can't come soon enough.

5 lbs!

Yes, Miss Eva has made it to 5 pounds!! She continues to take a few bottles every day. We celebrate each bottle that she takes because once she takes all of her feedings this way, she'll get to come home!!! It takes a lot of work for a growing little girl to drink a bottle, so the nurses always follow her cues and if she's awake when it's time to eat, they (or we) offer her a bottle. Sometimes, though, she'd much rather sleep through it and that's ok, too--she does an awful lot of growing when she's sleeping.

We realized that Eva is sleeping in a lot of the pictures we've posted on here. We think part of that might be because when she's awake we're so focused on talking with her or just enjoying her sweet face and expressions that taking a picture is the last thing on our minds.

Big Girl

Because we see her everyday, sometimes it's hard for us to realize how much Eva Grace has grown. Though, the last few times she's been wearing this outfit, we can really see the difference between now and the first time she wore this same outfit

Miss Eva's getting to be such a big girl she now holds her own pacifier. Ok, so maybe she just got lucky and her hand landed on her pacifier. But we couldn't resist--and it looks like she was taking a peek to make sure we caught it on camera!

Eva 4.6

Miss Eva has doubled her birth weight; she now weighs 4lbs. 6oz.!

She'll be 6 weeks old tomorrow. She continues to take a bottle for 1-2 feedings every day. The doctors have increased the amount she has at each feeding--she is now at 38 ml (about 1.3 oz) and is tolerating it very well. Eva now frequently wakes up before it's time to eat, waiting patiently for her next meal, and is usually awake for quite a while during and after. We love to talk with and read to her during those times.

Along with her weight gain, Miss Eva's hair continues to grow. Lately it's become a little bit more spikey. (Calvin thinks it looks like a baby emu's hair!!)

2 babies in Eva's pod have gone home within the last few days, and one more is going home tomorrow. We're hoping this will also be our "going home" pod!!
