Busy Weekend

and full of lots of firsts!

Eva G went garage saleing for the first time--oh what fun to rummage through other kids' discarded toys. :) We're not generally big on garage sales, but this weekend we spontaneously hit a few and found some great bargains.

But the biggest firsts were...

 roasting marshmallows

 enjoying smores

and sleeping out in the tent with Daddy and the cousins!!

No one even had to come inside in the middle of the night. Little Eva hung in there with the big kids and was the third one to fall asleep. Seems they all had a good time and there'll be plenty more smores to come this summer (maybe not as many camp outs, as far as Daddy is concerned ;)

The Reel Deal

Eva finally got to go fishing for real. Daddy got her her own pole on Saturday and got it ready for her and we went and tried it out yesterday. Daddy did the casting and Eva did the reeling, but only for a few times. And then the dirt and rocks and sticks were calling! It was a fun Father's Day--fishing, having a picnic, and just enjoying a beautiful Sunday out in the mountains.

Father's Day

This is the first Father's Day without my dad.

My brothers and sister and I were so blessed to have the dad we did. My dad always made sure we had everything we needed and a lot of what we wanted. He showed us the importance of hard work and an appreciation for nature. And his pancakes were the best! His example of how to be a family is one of the greatest gifts and for that I am so grateful.

While I didn't always spend Father's Day with my dad, I always talked with him. So today, I'll miss that phone call and cherish the memories.

Fishing

This is Eva's version of fishing--she gets a stick she finds somewhere in the yard and puts it in the little pond we have and goes fishing. She doesn't seem to mind that there's nothing in there for her to catch.

Most of you know that Eva's Gramps passed away a couple of weeks ago, so we took some time off from blogging and know we missed our 3 on 3 for June, but I think we'll be back to updating again. Thanks for all of your kind thoughts and prayers.
