Mr. Wilson

If you look very, very closely, you just might see Mr. Wilson sitting right beside Eva.

Mr. Wilson joined us just a few days ago. All of a sudden during her bath, Eva started talking about Mr. Wilson. She carries him in her palm and will sometimes go get him from one place and bring him to another. He seems to like water, as she asked me take a picture of him in the pond after she got up from the rock where she was sitting licking her lollipop (which is what she calls a sucker). She doesn't talk about him all the time, but since it's been a few days and she still mentions him, I think he may be here for a bit. I also had imaginary friends, though I don't remember them, and I gave them some pretty crazy names. We have no idea where Eva came up with his name. It'll be fun to see how long Mr. Wilson stays and what kinds of things he does.

Cleaning Up

We ended up at a great space in the mall today--Eva G called it the children's museum, and it was very much like that. We were at the mall looking for something specific and then just kinda turned a corner and there was this awesome area which has apparently been there for about a year. Tells you how often we go to the mall. We will definitely be back much more often from now on. There were things to play and be creative with and music and great art all around. And as much as Eva loved all of the neat things to look at and puppets to play with, I was most amazed at this:

Now, we work on cleaning up and putting things away when we're done playing with them, but it's quite a work in progress, as anyone who has seen our living room at the end of the day can tell you!! But here she was, putting the colored pencils right back in the can where she got them without being told. Ahhhh. :)

I was actually on my way out to get a couple of pictures of Miss Eva standing at the top of the slide pushing rocks down. But as quick as I had gone to get the camera and back out, she had already moved on...

So Long, Summer

Where did this summer go?? It's always a little sad this time of year to realize winter is not so far off, though we do get the beauty of fall to ease us into it. But for now, we say so long to the birds' chorus waking us way too early, so long to staying out and playing when it's still light way past bedtime, so long to hot days and parades, so long to dirty hands and faces and fishing poles and tutus

well, maybe we're not quite ready to say so long -- we'll still try to eke out a few more weeks of summer fun
