Christmas

We spent Christmas at Nana's house.

Santa Claus brought the mommy and daddy penguin Eva asked for!

 She couldn't believe it.

She got her baby penguin so "the family could be together."

We took a nice little hike to see the elk up on the ridge. It was cold, but beautiful.

Christmas 2013 gets a definite thumbs up!

First Day of Winter

Winter made her entrance this morning in fine fashion. We got out early to enjoy the beauty and cold, fresh air before the warmth of the sun melted the gorgeous frost.

Christmas Program

Eva's Christmas program was an action-packed display of sign language, yoga poses, Dance of the Sugar Plum Fair(ies) choreographed by the sugar plums themselves, Jingle Bell Rock. Mele Kalikimaka, and individual and small group songs and poems. There was a lot of laughter in the audience!

Santa

On Saturday we went to one of Eva's very favorite places, The Pioneers Museum, and had a great time. We got to do lots of different Christmas activities, listened to wonderful singers and musicians, and got to see Santa!!

Eva got to write and mail her letter to Santa.

It says, "Der Santa, I want a mom and dad pangwin. Eva." Last year Santa gave her a little stuffed baby penguin. She now wants the mom and dad to go along with the baby.

(the red balloon around her waist is the "scabbard" for her sword that she asked the balloon artist to make; that was the hot item of the day--notice the boy next to her!)

When Eva was talking with Santa, he had to clarify that she didn't want real penguins, because they would make quite a mess in his bag. Eva thought that was so funny.

The Nutcracker

Eva and daddy went to see the Nutcracker on Saturday evening. They both had a great time. There has been humming and even more dancing around here since then. Eva really, really loved it. And she only got a little fidgety the last 15 minutes or so. It was the perfect time to take her and introduce her to the magic.
