Eva Demonstrates

The art of placing the Band-Aid... (first 3 pics she didn't know I was taking)

Finding a comfy spot in the sun is obviously rather important

Every good job deserves a thumbs up, with a Band-Aid on top

PP

Buttoning up her pjs all by herself.

Running and playing with the other kids in tumbling class.

Helping set the table for supper.

Making "friends" with kids wherever we go.

Saying her prayers at bedtime.

Asking and talking and asking and talking.

Singing and dancing around the living room.

Every parent is proud and excited when their child does these things, but when the doctors tell you your baby has a very good chance of surviving if she comes now and then you find out about all of the things that can go wrong, these moments seem a little bit sweeter.  Guess that makes us Preemie Parents. We're not sure when we'll stop being Preemie Parents--when we'll stop just being amazed at how far our little girl has come (we probably never will :).

We surely thank God and then the doctors and researchers who have found ways to help these tiny babies survive.  So many of the tests and procedures Eva had when she was first born were linked to research funded by March of Dimes.

This has become an organization that is near and dear to our hearts and this is why next Saturday we'll be doing the March of Dimes March for Babies. We've had a big part behind the scenes this year, and some of us will be there extra early Saturday morning to help out and some of us will do the walk. So if you're nearby, join us. If you're somewhere else, chances are pretty good there's a walk near you in the next couple of weeks and they'd love to have you donate or walk to show your support.

Dandelion Crown.
We were leaving our friends' house one afternoon last week and a nice lady was walking by and asked if we had a minute. She made this sweet dandelion crown from the plentiful supply in the lawn nearby. She said she used to make these when she was growing up in Germany. Glad we got this picture on the cell phone, because it wilted soon after.

Bucket Calf

When we were at Nana's for Easter, we got to go out to our friends' ranch and see some of the new calves. One is a little "bucket calf." His mama didn't have much of a maternal instinct, so he has to eat from a bucket with a nipple. He was so cute and really rather friendly. Eva and the cousins even got to feed the cows during feeding time by dropping off the hay for them.

Easter

Our Easter was really nice. Eva G was a good girl in church and had a lot of fun with her Easter basket and finding lots of eggs. This was really her first egg hunt--last year we hid some in the house as it was really cold, like it often is, although not so this year, and the year before she wasn't walking yet. She got right into the swing of things and filled her bucket with only a few hints and a couple minute head start ahead of the cousins. It was a beautiful and blessed day.

EGG on Eggs

Our little EGG surely enjoyed coloring Easter eggs this year. She even managed to keep more color on the eggs than on herself.
