Eva G. FAQ
How much does Eva weigh?

When we went to the doctor about 3 weeks ago, Miss Eva weighed 10 pounds and was 22.5 inches long (she finally hit the bottom line on the growth curve charts for height!!!!)
How did you choose Eva's name?
Eva was Calvin's paternal grandmother.
Grace was Sara's paternal grandmother.
We loved the way the two names went together and decided if we had a girl, that would be her name.
As an aside, the meaning of the two names couldn't have been any more appropriate--
Eva means "giver of life"
Grace means "God's favor"
How old is Eva? OR So how does this preemie thing work?
This is the tricky question. Preemies have two ages. They have their actual age (for Eva that is almost 5 months) and their adjusted age (for Eva that is closer to 2 months). The actual age begins on the actual birth day, the adjusted age begins on the due date.
Preemies develop according to their adjusted age. So, Miss Eva is doing things more like a 2 month old, rather than a 5 month old (give or take a couple of weeks). Around age 2 most babies are caught up, as there isn't as much difference between a baby that is 24 months and one that is 26 months, but there is a much greater difference between a 2 month old and a 5 month old.
Yea, so try explaining this to the cashier at the grocery store or the nice waitress who asks how old Miss Eva is. We generally just tell them her adjusted age instead of trying to explain the whole thing. Whew.
So now on to the fun part...

Where have we been?
Well, actually, we've been here the whole time since our last post. Miss Eva has just had a lot of visitors the last couple of weeks. She's met some new friends and three cousins and some aunts and uncles. And Grandma and Grandpa from Montana got a chance to come and spend some time! So, we've been busy visiting and getting to do some "touristy" things with our out of town visitors. We'll post some new pics soon!
