Fair

A couple of days ago we went to the county fair. We had never been before and thought it might be fun to take Eva, so late afternoon we headed east and spent the evening at the fair. We had a good time and will probably go back again next year.

Eva liked all of the animals

and had fun watching the big kids on the rides

Miss Eva just may have found her inner cowgirl at the fair!

18 Months

It's hard to believe, but Miss Eva is 18 months old today!! Where has the time gone??

She went to the doctor this morning and had a good checkup. She weighs 20lbs 12 oz and is 32 inches tall. Now that she's a big girl she got to stand on the scale and was measured standing up, even though she wasn't completely sure about this new way of doing things. The doctor was happy with all of the things Eva is doing and with the exception of walking, she's right on track for doing what most 18 month olds do (even though we subtract 3 months for being a preemie)! She's just so amazing!

Here are some of the things Miss Eva does:

she loves to do the hand motions to Itsy Bitsy Spider
she will say the "doo dah" part if we sing or whistle Camptown Races and then stop at that part
she can't help but dance anytime/anywhere she hears music
she's trying to eat with a spoon
when we sit down at the table, she puts her hands together and says, "amen"
she points to her bellybutton, nose, teeth, feet, and eyes
she likes going to storytime at the library

And some of her words:

airplane (if she even just hears one she says this, though she will also point one out in the sky as well)
yummy (when she wants to eat or is eating something yummy)
up
open
blueberry
all done
hello (in a funny accent, when she picks up the phone or something else and puts it to her ear)
yes please
thank you
ball
NO (she's really figured out just when to use this one!)
cookie and cracker (though the "c" sounds like "t")

It seems she says something new everyday and repeats a lot of what we say, too.

What a fast and fabulous 18 months we've had!!!

Saturday Harvest

We went out today and gathered a few veggies from our garden. Our little garden is taking a while, it seems, to get going. We enjoyed some radishes earlier in the season. Our squash and cucumbers have blossoms, but that's all we've gotten so far. The peas are doing pretty good despite a couple of hail storms. Our tomatoes are finally starting to come along now too. In addition to our usual tomato plants we ended up with a cherry tomato plant, which was quite a [tasty] surprise. So here are a few pics from our Saturday.

Miss Eva likes the peas!

Blue

berries, that is! Eva G. looooves blueberries. She simply can't get enough. She's really enjoyed all the new fruits she's gotten to try this summer.

Here are a few pics from last night, enjoying a nice summer evening. You can see a little bit of blueberry stain on her cheek.

On an exciting note, Eva has now started to take a few steps between people or things. She's been most successful when working with her physical therapist (She really likes her PT but doesn't like that she makes her work so hard sometimes :) And her favorite part of therapy is when she gets to say and wave bye at the end). Eva's PT will stand with her a few feet from mommy and she's so motivated to get away from her PT that she takes a few steps. So now we spend a lot of time practicing that move between furniture/toys/people and will hopefully get some video on here soon. It's so exciting!!

Happy 4th Of July!

We had a fun day today. It was not as hot as it has been the last several days so we went downtown to a fun festival in the park. It was fun to be around so many other people all celebrating our great country and freedoms.

Miss Eva's fireworks this year will just be in her dreams, and mommy and daddy will probably sit out on the deck and catch a glimpse here or there. Though, it's hailing a bit right now and looks like it might rain some more, so maybe there won't be many fireworks after all.

Our little firecracker

The beautiful and fun fountain/sculpture in the park. It is huge and the water comes down from the top (you can see that in the pic) and the whole thing turns ever so slowly. There is also a little pool part underneath that just looks too fun to pass up, so we'll try to make it back this summer to splash around a bit.
