We started out the day watching this little cutie and her mama. (There are actually 4 little fawns in our neighborhood this summer, but this pair spends a lot of their time in the neighbor's yard.)

 And spent the evening here:

Having something like this (ok, pretty much EXACTLY like this):

Removed from one of these little ears:

Don't even ask.

All of a sudden she tells us to look at this bell.
What bell? We ask.
Well, it's in my ear.
WHAT??

Upon further inspection, it was NOT a bell, but a fishing weight.
Upon even further inspection, we decided we should probably leave it to the professionals to remove it.

The doctor at the clinic was great and Eva G was really good too. Never cried. Just sat on daddy's lap and squeezed his hand when she needed to.

The doctor took a picture of the little weight to take home to show his kids what NOT to put in their ears or noses, for that matter.
Hopefully our girl has learned her lesson as well!

Boys and Bubbles

Eva G spent the first evening of summer playing with her two favorite boys and blowing bubbles.

Notice who else got in on the action.

And then needed a break...

Zoo

We took advantage of a break from the smoke and heat and enjoyed a couple of hours at the zoo. We didn't get to every exhibit, but we did make it to the carousel, which Eva G has now decided she does like. It's always a back and forth thing with the carousel--she thinks she wants to ride it, but it's too loud, so then she doesn't, but then she cries when we leave and she hasn't ridden. I think it's finally clicked that yes, the music is quite loud, but really, the ride is worth it. We'll see next time.

Fun Fest

Eva had been seeing the commercials for the PBS Fun Fest for ages. We had it marked on calendars. It was the incentive for good behavior. Finally, the day arrived. And it didn't disappoint!

Quite possibly the best part of all was the opening of the Uncle Wilber fountain!

Shaved ice was the perfect way to top off a fun-filled day.

Fore!

We spent part of a hot Thursday morning playing mini-golf with the cousins. We really need to work on our technique. And following the rules. There was possibly one legitimate hole in one. But mostly it took us several tries (and a little help from each other) to get the ball where it needed to go. We had a super fun time, though!!
